Topic: The Opioid Crisis – What can EACH of us do to curb the problem in Canada?
At record rates across North America, patients are being prescribed and dispensed opioid medications for a variety of reasons; predominantly, for the treatment of pain. Unfortunately, simultaneously, this has been accompanied by a dramatic number of opioid-related harms that have been created by the medical system, including patients who have died as a result of opioid overdose, and those who have had their lives disrupted as a result of an opioid use disorder/addiction. This session will highlight how pharmacies and their staff can change the tide in opioid-related harms in North America.
